Seeking Opinions, Please!

So occasionally we get someone who comes to us and asks that they have their stories removed from the Internet one one of the Archives that I host on Squidge.org - and I've always complied.  But recently I found something intriguing on AO3 and wanted to try and replicate it.
Basically, if you want to abandon your stories and remove all traces of your identity from them on AO3, there's something called "Orphan Account".  What that does is take all of your stories and strip them of your identifying information, and attribute them to a generic account called "Orphan Account".  That way your stories stay available for people to read, but yet they are detached from your identify.  Your account can be deleted, but your stories stay.
What do people think?  Good idea?  Bad?  Thoughts?

I'm a big fan of this option -- but only as long as both options (deletion and orphaning) remain available.

I personally love this idea and thank the authors on AO3 that have done it. If the author is worried for whatever reason about being associated with their writing this solves the problem and still leaves the work to be enjoyed.

One of my favorite stories is this way on AO3, originally the author pulled the work completely and then put it back under "Orphan Account", because of this I got to download and enjoy a really great story.

Sounds like a large idea to me.

sounds like a win for those who no longer want their stories associated with them and a win for the readers who still get to enjoy the stories

I like it a lot.

I think it's a great idea if you can implement it.

We are told that "the internet is forever" but many, many wonderful stories have been deleted by authors for varying reasons and vanished completely, which is so sad.

.
I'm all for it. I hate the idea of stories disappearing. Someone, somewhere, regards 'x' as their absolute favorite story, and will mourn if it's no longer available.

Then there's also the possibility of a story sparking an idea in someone's mind that eventually becomes another story. I hate to see the dimming of any creativity.

I'm all for it, assuming the full deletion remains available, of course.

I love the idea and a big fan of the option of orphan_account. =)

I really like this idea. It is so sad when a story you really love disappears. I totally respect an author who feels the need to do so but maybe this option would allow some to stay available.

I personally think this is a wonderful idea. At least as an option to offer them.
