Date: 2021-11-04 08:38 pm (UTC)Over the past few hours, it seems as though Squidgeworld.org has developed an internal server error and will not connect.
Maybe you know something about this, maybe you don't, but I hope this'll inform you if you don't so you can correct it ASAP.

Date: 2021-11-25 12:23 am (UTC)I hope it gets resolved soon; and that's primarily because, Walter, I'm worried. Your site is one of my favorite sites, and it doesn't appear to be working at the present moment for some reason that I don't understand.
What went wrong that led it to go down a few days ago in the morning, pray tell?
It may be "Squidge" that's up, not "Squidgeworld.org" to clarify the problem currently going on at that; I hope this helps you to deduce what's going wrong in this, and how to fix it, Walter. I don't know if it'll work, what I'm telling you about that's currently going wrong, but I hope this'll help.
Why does your site keep on going down, pray tell? It has *got* to be frustrating to you; I know *I* am frustrated by it, but you run the site; so I don't doubt that you're frustrated in this.

Date: 2021-11-25 01:49 am (UTC)Let me see if I understand what's going on, Walter. In this case, I'm guessing, the servers are bouncing the request and so it is getting nowhere. Do you think I'm right in my diagnosis of your site's psychological glitch going on, or do you think I'm way off in terms of what's happening?
I know it said that it refused to connect, and that's just plain weird; it worked usually for a long time. Hence I'm puzzled at least.
I just did a connection test via Edge, and it said that my device is working correctly, but Squidgeworld[dot]org isn't responding.
I hope this report helps you out with fixing the problem, Walter; and if it's happening to one member, even odds up, it's happening to others. And I do hope this helps you to break down and fix the database problems as well.

The system has encountered errors in your server setup that must be fixed to use Chevereto:
No write permission for PHP user apache in /images/ directory. Chevereto needs to be able to write in this directory.

Date: 2024-09-26 11:59 pm (UTC)I don't know if the issue's on my end, or yours (the site's) but if this's the case for me: it probably is for others as well.
I don't think you'd settle for not having the works readable, not with the effort you put into setting up the site, Sir. That, logically is a "it does not follow error".
Login issues with password and account names also have cropped up, apparently alongside with email problems that need to be addressed.

Seeking FAQs for Squidge webhosting, if any?
Date: 2025-11-25 04:10 pm (UTC)I would like to build a website (it's part of a challenge) - nothing interactive (maybe some links to my email, that's about as interactive as I plan to get, like back in the 90s), just a "web shrine" to my favorite OT3s across multiple fandoms, from noir and WWII era flicks to present day series.
I have a SquidgeWorld account (just created) but I have been looking for FAQs and not finding any. When I go to the webhosting section, I don't see any way to create a Squidge webhosting account and login. How would I do that?
My understanding of the vast Squidge empire is that I would need separate accounts for Squidge image hosting, Squidge webhosting, etc. as these are discrete services, access to which is not incorporated into a simple SqWA account. Is that correct?
Also, any FAQs/tips on simply hosting HTML files on my Squidge website (once I get it, if you can tell me how)? It's been a while for me (like, 22 years, srsly, since I had a web site of my own on the Unix server at my university job - mostly a shrine to CKR on dS, lol!). I haven't used Unix in a while, but I have installed Linux on a few computers over the years since, so I'm acquainted with basic Unix/Linux commands (and there's always the man pages).
wrt the web, well, I can hard code html and set up directory structures. I'm not familiar with CSS but I don't plan on having anything complex, interactive, or dynamic... I plan for a pretty static web site, as mentioned above.
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post these questions. If there is another DW or Squidge site where these questions are more appropriate, please point me in that direction!
Also, other than basic Qs like "where do I go to create a Squidge webhosting account" and "where do I login to my Squidge webhosting account", I don't expect you to answer everything - pointing me in the direction of any FAQs or noob hangouts (or whatever is available) is perfectly fine.
Thank you in advance for your help with this.
Re: Seeking FAQs for Squidge webhosting, if any?
Date: 2025-11-28 04:35 pm (UTC)1) I can set you up a website - that's cool. Squidge has traditionally been a "Build a website in whatever software you want, then publish it on Squidge". There's never been like a website builder. That said, I'm looking into a way to incorporate a website builder software package, but it's definitely not ready for prime time yet.
2) Yes, each site is discrete - with its own username/password/account information. I wish software packages had SSO (single sign-on) capabilities, but none of them do. Poops.
3) My first homepage - hell most homepages - was coded by hand. The last iteration for Squidge was via software package but the Board is suggesting new designs for the main pages so they'll be changing soon. I'll need to find software that'll do it.
To get a website, people have always just emailed me to ask. If you send me a requested username (which will end up being https://yourusername.squidge.org once live) I'll set it up for you. And no worries about your questions - it's clear we need a central location with that info posted to the 'net.
Re: Seeking FAQs for Squidge webhosting, if any?
Date: 2025-12-02 09:48 pm (UTC)OK, should I email your [Bad username or site: me @ com] email address? Or is there a different one I should email to make the formal request for webspace on Squidge.org? My preferred username would be "verushka70".
