another outage

We were down from about 23:45 Friday night until about 06:00 Sunday morning due to winter storms taking out powerlines here in the Pacific Northwest.  I tried to get a message out on here and Twitter, but only my tweet made it through (so follow SquidgeORG on Twitter if you can!). We live in a valley between two large hills, so cell signal isn't all that great here.

Oregon and Nevada at the same time! Strange weather systems. (I'm hearing from Con*Strict fan-friends in Henderson and Las Vegas that thousands in that area are experiencing storm-related power outages.)

What do you and Patrick do for emergency heat and light?

Yeah, this time seemed almost as big as the outage with the fires - maybe bigger!

There's not much we can do, honestly. We have a propane fireplace that we can use, but without the fan it's not that useful unless you're standing right in front of it. So we loaded up on outerwear and hunkered down. I read for most of the day.

As for light, after the 2 day outage with the fires, we loaded up on lanterns and power bricks. Even though we barely have signal, we've got plenty of stuff to read, and an "emergency puzzle" that we work on in those situations. It's 1,000 pieces and still not done - but we're getting there. :)
