Announcing: SquidgeWorld

I've been pretty busy the last few weeks, because I had to transition Peja's Wonderful World of Makebelieve (The WWOMB) into a new website.  That work is done, and the new site is called SquidgeWorld.  It's a story archive just like Peja's WWOMB, but it's based on the software that runs The AO3.  Yes, it looks similar, but no, SquidgeWorld is a completely different website, not affiliated with The AO3 or The OTW, the folks that put together the software behind The AO3.

Exciting news! I tried to do it for my Oded Fehr eFiction fanfic site several years ago, but found it much too difficult - I actually got the software working (didn't get to importing from eFiction though), but didn't feel confident of my ability to upgrade it as needed, and keep it secure going forward. I felt like it would take more coding skills, in a language new to me, than I have. I'm very excited that there's now another site that uses the AO3 software :D Mad props to you! :D

Oh yeah, this software is MASSIVELY confusing, and I admit that ruby, as a programming language, is like reading stereo instructions. But beyond that, there were some things that were just not correct in their documentation, or at least missing big parts on how to be able to run this in production.

Luckily I have a bunch of this stuff documented. And once I get a good night's sleep, I'll document it. :)

Definitely! I think it may take people a few days to start to get their feet under them, but after that, I should announce stuff here, and maybe fandomcalendar as well. :)

Well, I do subscribe to fandomcalendar but sometimes I get so overwhelmed with how much I have in my inbox that I don't read that in deadline-time. If something comes right from squidgestatus I'll always read it promptly.

I'm looking forward to reading your notes, just out of curiosity :) Will you post them/a link here when you got the documentation up?
